Syed Abidi immigrated to Canada in 2002 and completed his Juris Doctor at the Schulich School of Law in 2020. After articling during the Covid-19 Pandemic, Syed was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in June 2021 and has since continued to practice in Halifax. Syed’s practice is primarily focused on business law, contracts, real-estate, and wills and estates. Syed has extensive experience with incorporating companies, drafting contracts, wills, facilitating residential real estate transactions and performing asset and share purchases for corporations. Syed has also represented clients in foreclosures, shareholder disputes and contractual disputes. Syed has a strong passion for corporate law. While in law school, Syed participated in the Davies Corporate Law moot, representing Dalhousie University in the Canada-wide competition, and helping Dalhousie come in third place in all of Canada. Thus, Syed has a strong mind for shareholder rights and direction obligations, and the operation of oppression and derivative remedies. Syed has a background in finance and commerce, and thus brings that finance and business background to identify both business and legal issues for his clients and provide practical solutions for those issues. Syed prides himself on his expansive knowledge of corporate and commercial legal issues but also his love for learning and growth. Syed is always eager to learn about new practice areas or ideas, and incorporating them into his own growing practice.
Outside of work, Syed is an avid reader. He has a passion for history, archaeology, philosophy, and classical literature. Syed also likes to spend his free time exercising at the gym. Syed also loves to travel, having visited over 30 countries.
