Anisa Dattu attended the University of Newcastle’s faculty of law in the United Kingdom, where she graduated in 2013. Anisa was originally called to the Ontario Bar in 2017. She has since moved to Alberta and joined the Alberta Bar. Anisa has extensive family law experience in all areas of family law including litigation, parenting issues, spousal and child support, property, family violence, Separation Agreements, Marriage Contracts, Cohabitation Agreements and more.
Prior to practicing in Alberta, Anisa gained experience over the course of 8 years by working as a law clerk before articling and practicing law at two mid-size law firms in Ontario. Anisa has mainly focused her practice on her passion of family law, but she also has experience practising immigration law, an area which commonly coincides with family law matters. Her rounded experience provides her with the skills to effectively assist clients, utilize strong negotiation techniques and handle high-conflict matters. Anisa has appeared before various tribunals and different levels of court in Ontario and has appeared before the Court of Queen’s Bench and Provincial Court in Alberta.
Anisa is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and is an avid volunteer. Anisa previously acted as an advising panel lawyer for Luke’s Place for five years, providing pro bono summary legal advice to women who experienced family violence. She also volunteers as a Kid Coach and Crew Captain for the children’s charity Future Possibilities for Kids. In her spare time, Anisa enjoys travelling, entertaining, yoga and stand-up comedy shows.
